Project Synopsis

SumCo Eco restored this approximately 800 linear foot long section of Collins Cove into a thriving 0.75 acre salt marsh. The beach was returned to its historic condition which has been documented along the entire Collins Cove shoreline dating back to the late 1800’s. The restored marsh will enhance natural resources and will provide storm damage protection by stabilizing the shoreline, thus providing better protection from incoming waves when compared to previous conditions. The salt marsh also provided important nursery habitat for commercially and recreationally important shellfish and finfish species, and food and cover sources for birds and other wildlife.
