Long Beach Dyke Repair,
Plymouth, MA

Parks & Open Spaces

November 2016

Originally constructed in 1901, the stone dike protects the 2.8-mile barrier beach and was significantly damaged during the blizzard “Juno” in 2015. The Army Corps of Engineers contracted SumCo in efforts to rebuild and repair the damaged dike. With the structure vulnerable to future storm events, this project was essential in increasing coastal resiliency as Long Beach provides shelter between Plymouth Harbor and Cape Cod Bay.
